Description
Ready for a journey back in time? Check out this surreal infrared photo of the Rock of Cashel! It's like stepping into an ancient dreamland where history meets modern technology.
Rock of Cashel is a medieval Gothic cathedral and castle with parts of the stone architecture dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries. Being from Canada, where nothing is all that old, I always find it a little bit surreal being in places like this with so much history. It gives me chills to think of all the people who have touched those stones before me, over thousands of years. Maybe even some of my own Irish ancestors!
I used my infrared-converted camera for about 90% of the photos I took in Ireland. The surreal glow of IR photography seemed a perfect complement to all the ancient stone ruins covered in moss and ivy.
