Description
Burren National Park in Ireland was unlike any place I've ever seen. Parts were a rocky, limestone moonscape that stretched to the horizon, then suddenly the trail would plunge into a dense, almost jungle-like forest.
The rocky landscape had wide seams that made a pattern resembling the surface of a brain. It looked barren, but on closer inspection, there was plenty of plant life in all the cracks.
There were plenty of ancient rock walls like this one and some prehistoric monuments that we didn't have time to find. I would have liked to spend a lot more time there, it was so cool!
Driving there was quite an adventure, along some of the narrowest roads we encountered in Ireland. We didn't have to worry about remembering to stay on the right side of the road, because it was only one lane wide, anyway.
I took this photo with my infrared camera, adding even more of a surreal mood to a scene that was quite otherworldly, on its own.
