An old homestead sits abandoned in rural Shepody New Brunswick, beautifully framed by a huge tree that has also seen better days. I’m so glad that I got to photograph this decaying beauty many times over the years, because it burned down last year, and the big tree fell, a few months later!
This image won Best in Class for Fine Art in the Professional Photographers of Canada - Atlantic Region image competition in 2019, with the title “Reclaimed Wood”.
The print always sells well locally, and many of the locals still remember good times in this home.

Tracy Munson is a blue-haired, wine-drinking, nature-loving, bunny-hugging, Canadian Landscape and Animal Photographer. While living in Toronto, Tracy took every opportunity to escape the city and her rewarding but stressful job in one of the country's largest Animal Shelters. For many years, she traveled around Canada in a tiny car, with a large man, a tent, and two chihuahuas.
